Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter into liners and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
  7. For the buttercream, beat butter until creamy, gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Color as desired.
  8. Decorate cooled cupcakes with the frosting.
